We’re building our lists of songs for the reception and want you to help! Please suggest some songs that would be good for any kind of dancing so that our DJ can have them ready. Just leave a comment and we’ll start compiling the list.
In other news, we started booking hotels today for Athens, Santorini, and Istanbul… really looking forward to the honeymoon. I’ve been wanting to just sit and map things and figure out some places we’d like to go and things we’d like to stay near, and today we finally got down to it. Any travel advice that you might have for Greece, Turkey, or just in general would be a big help.

These are for your “Don’t play them” list:
Alley Cat; Electric Slide; Free Bird (or any other prom song); I am sure I will think of others…

Has the Macarena entered into “kitsch” category yet, or is it still in the “for the love of christ turn that off” stage?
cause I kind of love it.
Another idea: what about our bellydancing song?

from the weddings I attended this weekend, these were some of the hits:
Justin Timberlake (SexyBack)
Usher (Yea!)
Bon Jovi (livin on a prayer). Not really a dance song, but lots of air guitar and screaming.
I no longer have a voice.

Seth recommends the theme from Shaft. As far as banning cheesey wedding songs like the macarena, the alley cat, strokin’, the electric slide, etc., you may want to re-think doing that. They are silly but they get everyone out on the dance floor and a good DJ then will change to some other stiff that will keep people on the dance floor. When I worked for a videographer, I went to as wedding where the couple insisted that none of those songs were played. People were not dancing so finally, the DJ played the macarena and people strated dancing.

I don’t know about the music but I have two pieces of advice for your travels. First, don’t wait till the last minute to pack. We are both terrible procrasitnators and didn’t pack till about an hour before we needed to leave. We almost missed our flight. We were walking to the gate as they were closing it. So pack early and you won’t have a problem with my second bit of advice…don’t forget the traveler’s checks! We did that too and spent 2 wks in the Andes with $500 cash and no ATM. Yeah, that sucked. But we had each other, right

Michelle,
One request. You have to play the “Chicken Dance” Granted it is cheezy but you have to see Dad dance to it….
