My scouts have alerted me to the (inaugural) Foxwoods Food and Wine Festival the weekend of our wedding. If you’re looking for something to do on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, it sounds pretty cool:
Catch celebrity chefs Tom Colicchio, Tyler Florence and Masaharu Morimoto in the act during an inspiring weekend of cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, culinary seminars and special events. Be part of this exciting inaugural festival that’s destined to become a classic.
Remember, if you’re staying at our hotel, you can catch a free shuttle to/from Foxwoods at any time.
Of course, I would have found this sooner, but I haven’t exactly been looking for things to do that weekend…

Hello, I don’t know you, but I am so excited to find your site because I’m planning a wedding at a CT winery and am learning all about the process through this blog. I’m sure you have to do then write to people you don’t know, but if you have any tips, let me know. Thanks. Good Luck!

Hello CJ… well we are no experts at this, we are making up most of it as we go along. Some tips for you… get recommendations from your site for people like the caterer, florist, photographer, etc… That really helped me out. I am really fortunate to have experts at the vineyard and caterer that I constantly go to with questions. Another suggestion is get as much stuff done early, the time flies by and then it becomes crunch time at the end when you are rushing to get everything done. I am trying to keep things pretty simple, we loved the vineyard just the way it is, so I am trying to not go over the top on things and to keep it simple. What vineyard are you getting married at?

Thanks for responding. We are looking here and at the other one in Stonington. We’d like something closer to the city, but so far none of those seem to do weddings. We are planning to go visit and get more information the first weekend in October. I hope it was great and will be interested in what you thought. Thanks again.
