So we’ve been steadily creeping along, getting things done. Just today we received our printed save the date cards, which we’ll need to send out, and we’ve started on our registries as well. You can find the registries listed in the right sidebar of the site (two of the three up so far) and we’ll be mailing the cards soon. Much thanks to Mike for the design ideas. Although I probably didn’t do his design justice, we still like the look of it in glossy print.
As for photos, I’ve taken some of the ones I took before and uploaded them to Flickr so that I can make them available in the sidebar. Scroll down the page and you’ll see the last ten uploaded wedding photos with links to the full set. Enjoy! You can get all of the wedding photos here as they get added.

Well now that it is 2006 and this is the year we are getting married, Justin and I are starting to get moving on the planning and details. So far we have a location, caterer, photographer and officiant. To keep it going, we have set some monthly goals to accomplish so that everything will not pile up in the end. January’s goal: create and order the save the date cards, work on the registry and Justin is going to make an online RSVP program. So that is where we stand right now. We are still working on a DJ solution. During our visit to CT for New Years we met with 2 different DJs but they were not quite it. My mother sent me some recommendations from family and we are meeting with another DJ in February, I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Why is it that most DJs have the scariest webpages ever… why do they have to be all flashy with stars and music and spiny things… can’t they just tell me what I need and be done with it. In fact after looking at some of the webpages, I decide from that alone, that I do not want them to be my wedding DJ. Someone should give these guys a heads up.

Whooho… some things are getting together. We have appointments to meet with 2 prospective DJs and an officiant during our trip to CT for New Years. I hope to have both those topics taken care of by the end of January. I also need to get working on our save the date cards. Sarah sent me this great link, to have some post cards made.
Next step… I need to start making plans for February. My mom wants to plan an engagement party which will be around then. I also need to pick a date to start a bridesmaid dress search with the girls. So bridesmaids… let me know if any weekends in Feb are not good.

Well I am back working on wedding planning at least for a little bit. I figured wedding planning is one good way to avoid writing papers for my classes. I’m up to DJ selection, and its harder then it looks, mainly cause I don’t really know what I am doing. I know what I don’t want… I don’t want anything cheesy, so no hats, singing djs, costumes, etc… I just want someone professional, that can read the crowd and play for a mixed audience. Can that be so hard??? And again I seem to be late in the game on this one as people are already out for our wedding date. Any suggestions on this one would be great… like what questions to ask, what to avoid.

I’m happy to report that we now have a photographer. Mike Ross of West Haven will be doing our wedding. Check out his portfolio, wedding and non-wedding alike! We really like him and are really happy with the experience that he brings to the table.

I’ve just quickly posted some new photos from the past weekend, namely the vineyard in season, a nearby cemetery, and the downtown area. I’ll be changing the header image on the site soon to be from this batch (instead of May) and I’ll probably mirror the photos here but for now, find them at:

We made some great progress this weekend!
* met with several photographers and are almost decided on one of them
* visited the vineyard in season
* visited the town square and roads around the vineyard
* got lots of pictures of everything (which I’ll post soon)
We also got to hang out with some friends, I got to work on some fun computer projects for Michelle’s family members, and Michelle successfully flew two great flights despite much anxiety. All in all a satisfying weekend.
